This video over stereotypes the genre of characteristics of a pop video, and plays the video as a movie by having credits at the beginning and the end of the video. There is a strong relationship between the music and visuals. There are a lot of close ups of the singer Katy Perry, and fits in with her other music videos which are also quite eccentric. The beginning part of the video shows Katy Perry waking up after a hectic house party that occured at her home, very worried and paranoid as she woke up to a boy in her bed, with drunk photos online of her, and her house looking like a pigsty. From what I can see, Katy perry is playing the "high school geek". We can see this by what she is wearing, it isn't revealing and isn't modern at all. You can also tell by her big glasses and headbraces.

Katy perry invites the high school "hunk" to her party. Hoping to impress him, her friend (played by Rebecca Black in the video) insists that she has a makeover, therefore gives her breast fillets, removes her glasses and headbraces, curles her hair, gives her a complete makeover and changes her clothes in order to get attention from males. As she is walking down the stairs, a geeky looking boy is staring at her, admiring the view. He also stereotypes the typical looking geeky boys that attend school. in the background you can see cups, which I know consumes alcohol in it. This shows the hectic lifestyle, and careless attitude that teenagers in this generation have today. When the american hunk steps through the door to Katy's house, he looks like a "jerk", and didn't look twice at her even though it was HER house party. Stereotypically, this shows that looks aren't everything if you don't have a heart or personality. When she gets ready properly (after having the makeover), he does pay attention in her and pinches her bottom, which results to the geeky looking boy punching him(trying to protect her). "Last Friday Night" - repeats throughout the song, main chorus. "Yeah i think we broke the law" - The "think" word shows the listeners that she was too drunk to remember anything, very common and relatable for teenagers, therefore I think this video and song is aimed at people aged between 16-25 years of age.
